The KAUTZ blog is still just a playground. I think I have the layout where I like it for now, But even that is subject to my tweaking whims. Most of my other blogs have become very static as far as design change. And… uh… content. Ha!
The FORUM here was a bit complex. It has a great many variables for formats and operation. Kinda fun challenge getting it working. That’s what it is all about right now. Anytime in the future, I will have the experience & knowledge to set up a functional new WordPress forum.
Or maybe the Forum here will find a real purpose. Right now it’s just another form of Blogging and my personal playground.
Forums are intended to become “communities” of common interest folks. With all members contributing or at least having the ability to contribute. A forum without active members contributing is just another personal blog.
I have operated several multi-member FORUMS. An “open” member forum soon becomes a target for hackers trying to break things. Also a lot of off-topic posting of links to porn or “sex” sites and other deviate activities.
This site does have some filters. I can lock things down if needed. But then there is no real reason for existence. A forum is intended to be a community. I think a forum is an excellent format for specific support for business or hobbyist communication needs.
This KAUTZ.blog site was created because I opened a lease for three years on a hosting service other than the one used for my other web sites. Specifically to run my email servers. But issues developed and I placed the mail servers elsewhere.
I have this paid hosting lease, looking for some use. Thus KAUTZ.blog was created as a test platform for website experiments. I am considering adding more features for display and storage of my photo and video collections.
So much to try… and I have the place and space. <G>
